Muhammad’s First Revelation

Mainstream islam and muslims believe revelation of the first verse happened in a cave (Ghar-e-Hira), Due to poor understanding of quran by so called scholars they were led to believe quran does not mention how the first verse was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Angel Gabriel so they have to look for it in the Hadiths compiled by various scholars and narrated by people who never actually met prophet.

Beginning of islam & first revelation by mainstream islamic tradition

Believers of mainstream islam believe islam began in a cave and they are not really sure how exactly due to contradiction of hadiths written by different scholars but they are really sure it happened in a cave, Some books say Prophet muhammad was alone when Angel Gabriel entered the cave and some say he was accompanied by Abu Bakr and when they are being asked what he was doing in the cave they answer he was meditating away from the idol worshippers but any how Angel Gabriel appeared before him and asked him to “Read”, Upon which he replied “i am unable to read” the Angel caught hold of him and commanded him to read and the catching hold part happened twice after that and Angel said Read the following verses:

“Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who
Created man, out of a clot of congealed blood:
Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,–
Who taught by the pen–
Taught man that which he knew not.”

There is hardly a single authentic hadith that says Prophet Muhammad recited after getting hugged heavily by the angel for the third time but he felt scared and ran off to khadija his wife and told her what happened in the cave and khadija told him not be scared as he is being chosen as a prophet by God.

Thats just one version of how first revelation was revealed as Angel Gabriel appeared before Prophet with a piece of paper having verses written on it and asking him to read. the 2nd version is not much different in which prophet Muhammad was in the cave as usual and angel appeared before and asked him to read which he could not and after getting hugged heavily three times by the Gabriel and the prophet woke up as he was sleeping and it was all a bad dream but he found verses written on his heart and shared his dream with khadija.

First encounter of Prophet with Gabriel left him scared and unable to read despite multiple attempts made by angel and the angel instead of saying “salam” to prophet said “Read” which is not islamic at all as according to quran when angels appeared before prophet they greeted prophets with salam before anything else, such gibberish can only be found in hadiths.

First encounter & revelation from Quran

First encounter of prophet muhammad with angel gabriel is mention in the quran chapter An-Najam as quran is a detailed book and Allah says in the Quran 6:38 that He has not neglected anything from the Quran and it is a complete book fully detailed.

 Quran An-Najam 53:5

Taught to him by one intense in strength.

Quran An-Najam 53:6

One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form

Quran An-Najam 53:7

While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.

Quran An-Najam 53:8

Then he approached and descended

Quran An-Najam 53:9

And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.

Quran An-Najam 53:10

And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.

Quran An-Najam 53:11

The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.

Quran An-Najam 53:12

So will you dispute with him over what he saw?

Quran An-Najam 53:13

And he certainly saw him in another descent

That is how first revelation was revealed to prophet muhammad and his first encounter with angel Gabriel happened in truth, there is no cave mentioned in any of the verses above and Prophet Muhammad certainly saw angel gabriel descend with his own eyes as it is not possible to see descent from horizon if your inside a cave and prophet did not get scared or ran off as mentioned in baseless hadiths but in truth he saw Gabriel in his true form and his emotional heart did not lie and testified about what he truly saw, The first surah revealed to Prophet by Angel was not chapter 96 but chapter 1 Al-Fatiah as quran is preserved in its true chronological order. Just for sake of promoting baseless hadiths the scholars of islam lie about chronological order of quran and say order of chapters in quran are not correct thus making chapter 96 into chapter 1 of quran which does not make any sense as Angel said “Read” as if he brought verses on a piece of paper.

Who Descended & Revealed?

In the Glorious Quran prophet muhammad was contacted by Gabriel only and not only that but Gabriel descended in his true form. some will argue that angel was not Gabriel and their question has been answered in the following verse.

 Quran Al-Baqarah 2:97

Say, “Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel – it is [none but] he who has brought the Qur’an down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers.”

I just have one question. If the Quran is in chronological order, why in surah 5 it says “Today I completed your religion”?

Chapter 5 Verse 3 This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion
Allah had indeed completed religion by chapter 5 and given all the commandments like Salat, Zakat, fasting, Halal & Haram etc, rest of the chapters are detailed explanation for commandments given initially and Questions asked by people of time.
